Radar “Kurs” (engl. meaning “Course”) is mounted in the fore of multipurpose helicopter MI-4M and experimental flying jet boat R-1, known as the “Maritime Reconnaissance”. This surveillance radar has following features:
- Low weight;
- Small size;
- Reliability in conditions of severe temperature and pressure drops.
The “Kurs” radar is a high-valuated and very complex electronic equipment. It refers to surface targets searching systems and is one of the most important equipment of a modern aircraft. Principle of operation is based on the reflection of beams sent by various objects. Detected objects appear on the “circular view indicator” display . It also shows completely various environment parameters in a digital format, regardless of time in any visibility conditions.
Range (distance to the target) depends on the conditions of atmosphere and shape of the detected object. It is determined by the time required to send wave and receive echo reflected from the target. Location of target is determined by where the echo comes from.
Use of “Kurs” radar:
